We have recently jacked up and removed a few stumps on a weatherboard home in Fremantle. You will see the damage done to the stumps with moisture in the ground. Over time the house started to sag at the front. A little bit of information on restumping.
Restumping (or re-blocking) is the process used to replace the original stumps which support the majority of weatherboard homes, the internal walls and floors of brick veneer homes, and the floors of solid brick residences.
Over a period of time all structures develop cracks and other signs of wear in their foundations. Since the foundation is one of the most important structural features of a building, any issues found in it should be fixed immediately. If the structure is a home, then the foundation needs to be restumped as soon as possible.
If you’re experiencing:
jamming doors and windows
bouncy or uneven floors
sinking stumps
rotting or termite ridden timber stumps
cracked concrete stumps
rusty steel columns
